The glass and rammed earth studio was built in 1987 to house Mountolive Stained Glass, run by artist Judy Kotai. Visitors to the studio were able to watch work in progress and clients were encouraged to become involved in the progress of their work. This approach led to involvement in numerous community art projects involving stained glass including the Kalamunda Library Window, the Katherine Susannah Pritchard Library (stage one and stage two), Yallambee Aged Persons Hostel and the Ellenbrook Town Centre. Mountolive Stained Glass has also undertaken public art projects, architectural and domestic commissions. The gallery itself is currently not open to visitors and is used for special exhibitions only. However, Judy works from the smaller converted stable studio space nearby, which is open by appointment. Clients are able to meet here to discuss commissions and see Judy at work. |
